WHY CLOTHING?
Beyond protection and modesty, what we wear significantly influences how we feel, behave, and perceive ourselves.
For children, who are in the crucial stages of identity, formation, emotional development, and social learning, the clothes they wear can significantly impact their emotions, self-esteem, and behavior.
Clothing appearance is one of the most visible signs of poverty, and children and teens are very sensitive about the way they look.
When a child doesn’t have adequate clothing, they are at risk for a multitude of Psychological negative effects which impact their confidence in education, participation in daily life, and ability to live life to its fullest potential.
Some of these effects include: - Being victims of bullying -Chronic absenteeism-Discomfort-Not being protected from harsh weather
-Trouble focusing-Low self-esteem -Mental health struggles -Trouble making friends -Feeling undervalued, hopeless, and isolated.
Clothing is just as essential as food and shelter. Just imagine waking up and having to wear the same pair of underwear you’ve worn for three days straight or none at all. Or imagine starting 7th grade wearing the same clothes you’ve worn since 4th grade, or Imagine wearing a shirt and pants that have many holes on it.
